Broad Arrow arrived at The Quail Lodge & Golf Club for the first time as the official auction partner of The Quail by The Peninsula, and walked away with the strongest Monterey Car Week result in the company's short history. Over two days the house sold 159 of 186 lots for a combined $97,395,955, an 85 percent sell-through that held up against a catalogue built around some of the most in demand names in the hobby. More than 1,400 bidders registered to compete for them.
A frontman steals the headline lot
The sale's top result came from a 2003 Ferrari Enzo finished in Nero D.S. over Rosso, a rare inversion of the model's usual red over black scheme that only two other cars share. Offered without reserve, it pulled sustained back and forth bidding before landing at $10,675,000. The winning paddle belonged to Jesús Ortiz Paz, frontman of the Mexican regional group Fuerza Regida, who set off genuine cheering in the room. Broad Arrow read the result as proof of a real generational shift in who is buying at this level.
Ferrari owns the depth chart
Six Ferraris landed inside the sale's top fifteen results. A 2019 812 Superfast from The Casa Bella Macchina Collection nearly doubled its high estimate at $747,500, a new record for the model, and a 527 mile Classiche certified 1998 550 Maranello matched that pattern at $648,500. A Classiche Red Book 2001 550 Barchetta Pininfarina in the unusual Nero D.S. over Cuoio spec pushed to $1,627,500, another record, and a low mileage 2020 488 Pista Spider closed at $1,545,000, also a record. The 2017 F12tdf and 2015 458 Speciale A both finished inside the overall top ten, at $3,635,000 and $2,425,000.
The hypercar market keeps climbing
A one of 99 2025 Bugatti W16 Mistral in Matt Argent over Beluga Black and Tangerine sold for $8,805,000, a model record, and a 2011 Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport followed at $3,305,000, also a record. Hennessey set its first ever auction records here too, with the Venom F5 Revolution Coupe and Roadster closing at $2,837,500 and $2,425,000.
The classics held their own
A restored 1968 Lamborghini Miura P400 S in period correct Azzurro Mexico Metallizzato brought $4,075,000. A 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, one of just fifteen built in factory Sonderlackierung Light Green Metallic, sailed past its high estimate to close at $2,040,000. An exceptional 1988 Porsche 959 Komfort set a record for any unmodified example at $2,865,000, and even a 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa built for the Dutch police set its own category record at $252,000.
What didn't sell
A 1927 Bugatti Type 37, a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Alloy, a 1968 Lamborghini Islero, a 2019 McLaren Senna, a Singer reimagined 911 (Los Angeles Commission), and a second 1957 300 SL Roadster all went home unsold, a reminder that even a record setting weekend has its limits.
Broad Arrow now turns to The Audrain Auction on 2 October, its first sale in the Northeast, followed by the Zoute Concours Auction on 9 October in Knokke-Heist.
